Welcome to the Spring Chiefs' Alert. Take a few minutes to see what is being planned for the Management Institute at the national SGIM meeting and what ACGIM is doing for you.  (please email all comments to amaio@yahoo.com)

    MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE/ANNUAL MEETING
We are looking forward to many division chiefs and other leaders in general medicine divisions attending this year's management institute. Our guest speaker on the afternoon of the 25th of April is Jack Silversin, of the Group Practice Improvement Network,   to discuss leading change and leadership. Joining Dr. Silversin is Ms. Deborah Borda, The president and CEO of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Hollywood Bowl.  She will present her experience in leading the LA Philharmonic through a time of significant change, and draw parallels between managing a symphony with highly trained, autonomous musicians to medicine with highly trained autonomous physicians.  In these rapidly changing times for GIM, Dr. Silversin and Ms. Borda are sure to have valuable insights and recommendations for our group.  Another session will feature chiefs who have gone on to divergent career paths.  They will facilitate a discussion on What Happens After Being a Chief? There will also be workshops on Faculty Productivity, Part-time Careers, and Time Management Skills.  Also be sure to join us for the Annual dinner on Tuesday, April 25 at 6:30pm following the 1st half of the institute.  For a full schedule and registration instructions go to http://www.acgim.net/meetings.htm
