ON YOUR BEHALF
During the past several months, ACGIM has carried out a busy agenda working on behalf of the membership on important policy issues. In December, we gathered in Phoenix for our first, quite successful Chiefs' Summit to address critical issues facing GIM divisions. Fifty attendees discussed issues surrounding academic hospitalists and, in a separate session, the workforce issue in GIM. Following up to the important work done at the Summit, a consensus statement was developed in conjunction with the SGIM Academic Hospitalist task force. We invite you to review this document using the below link, and forward comment to ACGIM President, Carolyn Voss at cvoss@salud.unm.edu. ACGIM leadership will be highlighting this statement at an important meeting with leadership of the Chairs of Medicine at the Association of Professors of Medicine, on March 1 to discuss issues surrounding academic hospitalists.
