LEON HESS LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT TRAINING INSTITUTE:
Essential Competencies for Leaders in Health Care
Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Who Should Attend
The Institute is designed as a resource for
Division Chiefs, Hospitalist Directors, Associate Chiefs, Section Heads, Administrators,
and other leaders in Divisions of GIM. Leaders are encouraged to attend, actively
participate, and consider bringing along a colleague from their Institution who would
benefit from attendance and leadership development. It
offers an unparalleled opportunity to network with the community of scholars devoted to
GIM. Chiefs from other IM sections,
administrators and anyone with a leadership role within GIM divisions are also encouraged
to participate. We look forward to welcoming
you to this community.
Institute Goals
The goals of the Institute are
to build leadership and management skills among current and future leaders in General

Physician leaders are increasingly integral in the planning and implementation of health system changes. With the focus on ambulatory practice re-design such as the Patient Centered Medical Home models and larger health system redesign, such as the Accountable Care Organizations, physician leaders can offer expertise and leadership as their organizations evolve. To be most effective, aspiring and current leaders can benefit from an understanding of competencies around Leadership in Health Care.
We are very pleased this year to have faculty from the Cleveland Clinic Academy, Dr. James Stoller, Dr. Carol Farver, and Dr. Caryl Hess to join in the ACLGIM Hess Management Institute. The morning presentation will have three interactive presentations, as listed below.
