CHAIR

Division of General Internist, in the Department of Internal Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University Hospitals and Physicians on the Medical College of Virginia campus. Candidates should possess strong leadership skills, be nationally recognized for achievement in clinical research, and have significant administrative leadership experience in an academic medical center. The successful candidate for this tenure-eligible Professor position will direct a vigorous academic program encompassing research, teaching, and patient care. The Division of General Internist incorporates Geriatric Medicine, Women’s Health, Student Health, Foundations of Clinical Medicine Program, Academic Hospitalist Service, and the Division of General Internal Medicine at the affiliated Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Core activities of the Division include staffing and management of three large primary care clinics, inpatient Hospitalist service, and the Primary Care Residency Track. Candidates must possess M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, be board certified in Internal Medicine, and possess a distinguished record of scholarship manifested by a strong publication record as well as demonstrated teaching, managerial, and leadership skills. CHIEF OF PRIMARY CARE

The Providence VA Medical Center is dedicated to providing high quality comprehensive outpatient and inpatient healthcare to veterans residing in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Chief of Primary Care
The Providence VA Medical Center seeks a Chief of Primary Care to develop further the research, clinical, and teaching activities of the Department. The successful candidate would participate in the rich collaborative research environment in HSR, GIM and geriatrics at Brown, including the VA HSR&D Targeted Research Enhancement Program, the Gerontology Center, the General Medicine Research Section, and long-standing post-doctoral training programs in health services, geriatrics and behavioral medicine.

ABIM certification in Internal Medicine is required. The incumbent must have a strong clinical background in Internal Medicine, Primary Care and/or Ambulatory Geriatrics. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellence in research, patient care and teaching. Experience in administration is also required. The incumbent must have a commitment to academic medicine and to the expansion of research activities at the Providence VA Medical Center. Interest in geriatric and/or health services research is preferred. Candidates must qualify for an academic appointment at the assistant professor or associate professor level at Brown Medical School. Candidates at the associate professor level must have a national reputation.

Protected research time of 50% is available to qualified investigators.

The Department of Medicine at State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, is seeking a Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine. Candidates should have a successful record of accomplishment in clinical programs, medical education and research. Appointment at the Professor/Associate Professor level commensurate with experience.

Resources include institutional support for faculty recruitment and the opportunity to develop substantial clinical, research and education activities in the areas of hospital and faculty practice. The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine seeks candidates for the position of Director of the Division of Geriatrics in the Department of Internal Medicine. The Carver College of Medicine is among the top ten public medical schools in National Institutes of Health funding and is part of a major research university. The Department of Internal Medicine is an integral part of UI Health Care which is a partnership between the College and The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. The University-owned teaching hospital is one of the largest in the United States and is adjacent to a leading Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The Division of Geriatrics will be one of 12 specialty divisions within a Department that is poised for rapid growth in the next five years.

The Director will be the spokesperson for the faculty. Responsibilities of the Director include faculty evaluation, recruitment and appointments; educational, clinical and research programs; fiscal planning and management; and short term and long term strategic planning. The new Director will be expected to recruit a cadre of investigators in to enhance the research within the Division. The Director will also have the opportunity to lead the University of Iowa Center on Aging, an interdisciplinary program that includes faculty from Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Dentistry, and Liberal Arts.

Candidates must have previous records consistent with appointment as a tenured associate or full professor of internal medicine. They must have an MD degree or equivalent; an outstanding record of accomplishments in teaching, research, and service, and be eligible for licensure in Iowa. The successful candidate should have the demonstrated capacity to foster an environment in which excellence in teaching, research and scholarship can flourish, as well as experience and skill in leading clinical programs. Candidates should have a national stature in academic internal medicine, a record of excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoy interactions with students, staff, and faculty.
